Tools stolen from works van's

Hello everyone,

North Yorkshire Police have received reports of work vans being broken into overnight, with tools, equipment, and other valuable items stolen.

These offences have recently been occurring in the Ripon area. Anyone who stores tools or equipment in a van overnight is encouraged to review their security arrangements. Prevention remains the most effective way to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of this type of crime.

Where possible, remove tools and equipment from vehicles when they are not in use. If this is not practical, consider taking additional security measures such as fitting extra locks or alarms, parking in well-lit areas covered by CCTV, using a garage, or positioning the vehicle in a way that makes access to the rear doors more difficult.

If you see someone acting suspiciously around a vehicle or believe an attempt is being made to break into a van, please call 999 immediately so that police can attend as quickly as possible.

Kind regards,
